After a surprising yet stellar 2011 season that ended with an NBA Championship and Finals MVP trophy, Dirk Nowitzki was riding high. Captain of the ship and the world was in his hands. Then the 2012 campaign for a repeat began but some familiar faces were no longer on board for the ride. Chandler was in NY, Berea was in Minnesota and Butler was a Clipper. They all got their rings and bounced.........
So 2012 didn't go as well as Dallas would've liked. After getting swept out of the first round by the eventual Western Conference Finals champion the Mavericks knew the continuation of the downward spiral was not over yet.
Jason Kidd ...... gone to play in New York's MSG
Jason Terry ...... taken his talents to Boston to make the new BIG3 a BIG3.5 once again with Ray Allen testing the market for a new home.
Next will probably be Delonte' West who averaged 9ppg and 3apg last year.
Where does that leave Mr. Dirk Nowitzki? Well if you recall, Dirk had a conversation with ESPN in May where the following was stated in reference to hanging around for a Mav rebuilding effort............. "I’m not sure," Nowitzki, 34, said. "I’ve always said I want to finish my career here and obviously the championship season topped it all off; that’s what I always was chasing and dreaming about so that kind of sealed that deal on that front. If we really come out with nobody this summer then maybe they want to rebuild and, obviously, I’m too old for that. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens on that front. But I still think I got two, three good years left in me and if we get some players in here we can be right back up there and compete."
And with that said and the lost pieces thus far during this 2012 NBA draft, sign and seal period before the 2013 season. The Mavs look to be rebuilding and Dirk has been trying repeatedly to contact the Mavs front office. But I guess when you and Kobe Bryant are the only two players in the league with a "no-trade" clause in your contracts, it sometimes makes a GM feel like he owes you nothing.
Mr. Mark Cuban hasn't answered any of Dirk's calls and has only replied to all phone calls with a pre-recorded message stating, "It wasn't an accident that we had a lot of expiring contracts taking place at the same time, we planned it that way. We'll answer all questions when the summer is over".................... IS OVER!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL KIND OF REPONSE IS THAT FROM A GENERAL MANAGER!!!!!????? ALL HOLY HELL IS ABOUT TO BREAK LOOSE IN DALLAS.............. GUARANTEED.
Reports are flying through the rumor mill that Dirk is not happy at all and has no plan of going through a rebuilding. This one's gonna get ugly......... Very very ugly.......... People forget that in 2010 Dirk took a 4yr/$80 million deal as opposed to a 4yr/$96 million deal to make it easier for the owners to keep strong talent revolving through the door...... And all they've done is slapped him in the face ever since.........
SLAP #1: Chandler slips away.
SLAP #2: Caron gone.
SLAP #3: Flight JT31 has taken off for BOSTON.
SLAP #4: What you mean it's ok for the Kidd to play in the Garden?!?!?!(MSG of course) ...... and now the star is ready to plummet to earth. Earth being his GM's office......... Hell's about to break loose in Dallas..........
