KNICKS OPEN DOOR FOR CHRIS PAUL IN FUTURE

It was assumed that the Knicks would match any offer made to Jeremy Lin and my guess is it’s because of his off-the-court earning potential.  Well apparently that no longer matters if the sources are correct and with good reason.  In comes the possibility of once again trying to land elite point guard Chris Paul.  Paul declined to sign a contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers which means he will become a free agent next offseason.  By not matching Lin’s offer the Knicks can possibly pick up Paul.  Though it is rumored that Paul declined the contract extension because he can get a max contract from the Clippers as a free agent, that doesn’t mean there’s no chance he’ll leave.  In my opinion Lin is not worth nearly the amount they’re offering him and although I do believe he’s a good point guard with a high basketball IQ and skills, I think he needs more development including the ability to go left.  Chris Paul may or may not be a long shot but regardless of what happens I hope the Knicks finally make a smart move.

One NBA source insisted the Knicks, with Felton's addition, will not match Lin's new, ramped-up $25  million offer sheet from the Rockets. The Knicks will have three days to reconsider amid a potential backlash.
