After a week that ended with some major and minor upsets, we have a few shifts to start out this weeks TST-NBA POWER RANKINGS.
#1) CHICAGO (On a 6 game winning streak and taking advantage of the OKC and MIAMI HEAT mishaps, the BULLS have not only secured the leagues best record, and have the strongest win streak. They're also holding on to that TST #1 SPOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!
#2) OKC (after an unexplainable loss to the Hawks, the Thunder keep a tight grip on 2nd place with the Miami Heat in a 2 game slump and 2 place drop down to #3 after leading the PR for most of this NBA season. Hopefully Bosh's return will get them back to their winning ways....)
#3) MIAMI (although they have been without their all-star PF. The Heat took 2 losses that are normally "elementary easy" for them against the Jazz and the Lakers)
#4) S.A. SPURS (its as simple as this..........beat the Knicks tonight and keep your 4th place spot....... PERIOD........... lose and see the Pacers or Lakers surpass you if they win their upcoming games.)
#5) INDIANA (tying the league leading Bulls with a 6 game win streak, the Pacers lept into PR contention midway last week. But the doubts are still out their due to the strength of the last 6 opponents...... But tonight, one of the 6 game win streaks come to an end as they visit the United Center to try and prove they're here to stay by defeating the Chicago Bulls.)
#6) LAL & LAC (tie)..........(Due to the Clippers inability to stay consistantly in the win column, and the Lakers starting to find their identity on a 3 game win streak and dismantling the Miami Heat yesterday, this #6 spot had to become a tie. The Clippers have Minnesota tonight and the Lakers have Detroit tomorrow............... All I can say is this...... The Clippers can NOT AFFORD TO LOSE.)
#8) MEMPHIS (On a 4 game win streak that saw them defeat the always dangerous defending champs, and the scrappy eastern conference problem causing 76ers. The Grizzlies maintain a chokehold on the 8th spot.)
#9) ORLANDO (with the leagues 6th best record and after a hard fought battle to actually make it onto the TST-NBA PR list due to the inability to string together consecutive wins........... The Magic ride into their 2nd week at #9 in the POWER RANKINGS.)
#10) ATLANTA (with an impressive win over the red hot OKC Thunder...... Atlanta snatches Philly out of the last spot and jumps back into the PR this week................. Some things you just can't deny. And beating the #1 team is one of those things.)
***** PR NOTES****** With Boston on a 4 game win streak, Denver on a 3 gamer and the defending champ Dallas Mavericks trying their best to keep it together as they scrap together wins here and there. Expect numbers 8, 9 and 10 to remain very uncomfortable. And if Houston ever decides that they actually want to make the play-offs.............THIS COULD GET INTERESTING.

Clippers percentage is still slightly better and it's rare for them to still be up there in the top ten. They deserve the six spot alone.
ReplyDeleteIf this was a regular to 10. That would be enough to make the change. Power rankings are based on a little more. (Strength of schedule, performance with star players absent, home & road records, win and loss streaks and the strength of the teams that were competed against on the streaks...etc......)
